With a long hot summer just around the corner…….. we are pleased to let you know the details for our Junior Registration for the 2019 cricket season.

We aim to ensure that every junior member develops a life long love of the game of cricket and has every opportunity to realise their potential with the pathway we have created in a fun and safe environment.

Membership fee:

  • 1 Child                        £90
  • 2 children (siblings)     £160
  • 3 children (siblings)     £200
  • 4 children (siblings)     £280

The membership fee covers the cost of the Friday night training sessions (it works out at less than £5 per session).

Payment method: cash is preferred but if this is not possible then cheques made payable to "Dorridge Cricket Club" are the Club's second preference and card payments the third.

Registration process

  1. Download the registration form.
  2. Print and complete all relevant details.
  3. Bring the form and payment along with your son / daughter(s) to the first night of junior training

Coaching Nights

These will remain, as before, on Friday evenings.  Last year we had approximately 240 children attending over the 3 sessions.  This year we have decided to retain the 3 separate sessions for Friday night training meaning that we can:

Provide a higher coach to children ratio recognising that some children develop better in smaller groups

Alleviate (some) pressure on car parking facilities.

  • Session 1 - School years Reception, 1, 2 and 3 – 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm
  • Session 2 - School years 4, 5 and 6 – 6:10 pm to 7:10 pm
  • Session 3 - School years 7, 8, 9 and 10 – 7:20 pm to 8:20 pm

The coaching sessions will commence on 19 April 2019 and end on 13 September 2019.

Training Shirts

We are unable to supply a club training shirt for registrations received after 16thMarch but these are available for you to purchase in a range of sizes, directly from JS Sports

Presentation Nights

Please put these provisional dates in your diaries now.  Further details will be provided near the time.

Complete Cricket

Complete Cricket Coaching will continue to be our Lead Coaching Partner and as in previous years, will be assisted by junior team managers/club volunteers.

This season we will be looking to enter a total of 23 teams in the Warwickshire Youth Cricket League and an additional 2 in the Cotswold League (Sunday morning) for the following age groups (ages are calculated on the age of the child at the start of this academic year).

Under 9's

4 x 8 a side pairs teams including 1 mixed boys/girls team)

Under 10's

3 x 8 a side pairs teams

Under 11's

3 x 8 a side pairs teams and 1 x 11 a side (normal rules) team

Under 12's

2 x 8 a side pairs teams and 2 x 11 a side (normal rules) team

Under 13's

1 x 8 a side pairs team, 3 x 11 a side normal rules teams

1 x girls 8 a side pairs team (in the Warwickshire girls league)

Under 14's

1 x 11 a side (normal rules) teams

Under 15's

2 x 11 a side (normal rules) team

Cotswold Hills League (Sunday mornings)

2 x under 13's 8 a side pairs teams.

It is a great testament to our success as a Club and to your continued support that we are able to enter this number of teams and provide such a large number of our junior members with competitive cricket.

We need your help please

As you are aware, the teams are managed and run by volunteer parents so please let your child's team managers know if you are able to assist them from time to time with coaching, administration/ parental liaison or match scoring.  Please do support your team manager if they are unavailable for any of the matches.  The team managers commit a lot of time and energy to ensuring the children have the best experience of cricket that they can, so please make every effort to help.

We are looking forward to building on the successful season we had in 2018 and we look forward to maintaining and improving these great achievements during the 2019 season.

Important points to ensure Friday coaching evenings run as smoothly as possible.

On arrival would all players please congregate down by the outdoor nets to sign in.

Please take your kit bags down with you if you have one.

Years 1 to 3

To ensure that all children are safe, we will be signing them out at the end of each session. The children will gather in their groups at the top of the field by the sightscreen at the end of a session. We ask that you come to meet your child's group and sign your child out.

We will not release a child without seeing their parent/carer, so please let us know at the beginning of a session if your child is going to be collected by someone other than yourself.

Please also be aware that all parents are responsible for their children after the session ends.

All children should not go onto the cricket pitch after their session ends for their own safety and to allow session 2 to take place efficiently.

Over the course of the evening we are expecting up to 200 kids present, which could result in a lot of cars!!

Please be aware of our car parking facilities.

Car Park 1: Main car park behind the clubhouse and strip of area to the left hand side of it (towards the top main house). Approx 80-90 cars.

Car Park 2: Area opposite the outdoor nets on the left-hand side as you drive up from the main entrance. Approx 30 cars.

Car Park 3: Dorridge Village Hall car park. To be used as an over-spill area if needed. Approx 40-50 cars.

This is a public council car park so please be respectful of any function going on in the Village hall of a Friday evening.

We are trying to put something in place where the car park will be marshalled, but in the event that it isn't, please can you all be mindful of parking sensibly to allow as many cars access to the car parking areas.

Car Parks 2 and 3 may be better suited for those attending Session 2

Drop-Off Area

This will allow parents to drop-off their children if they wish to.

This will be in Car Park 2 Area

One-Way System

We will also be introducing a one-way system.

Entry will be at the main entrance on Earlswood Road and exiting will be at the ends of both car parks 1 and 2 onto Grange Road.

Please do not exit down the main driveway from either car parks.

We would also encourage you to car share if possible or walk if that is convenient.

If the sessions are cancelled due to adverse weather conditions, we will communicate this through our Club Website, Facebook, (Dorridge Cricket Club), or Twitter @DorridgeCC.

We will do this as late as possible to give the best chance of the sessions being on.

And Finally...

The Club have really embraced the junior section and taken great strides to create a vibrant, family atmosphere.

The introduction of a Kids Bar, an extension of the outdoor patio area, in addition to the popular BBQ and bar facilities, makes us an extremely attractive place to spend a Friday evening.

However, our main priority is to provide a safe and enjoyable experience for the kids' cricket coaching.

Let's now hope for a dry, warm summer.

Paul Rastrick
